Trouble code 406. this indicates the EGR voltage is high! After you had the EGR valve replaced did you reset the ECU?
Yes the shop reset the computer, and the light cleared, but instead of code 404, now I have code 406.?
There is a snall vaccume hose that connects to the EGR valve that can sometimes get burt, check that v vaccume hose thoroughly from the valve all the way back to where it attaches on the other end is next!
Okay I will check that next, I will have to do it tomorrow because it's snowing to hard see anything. Thank you for your time.
If the hose isnt your problem, it is posdible that another sensor is bad. I have a question, is the 406 code and check engine light the only problem your havng?

Att Tommy: you ask if they reset the ECU well, I replaced mine and I didn't know to reset it and the person who put it on there he did not unhook the battery so how do I reset the ECU without going to dealer or shop and why do you have to reset it cause everything I replace I never reset because I didn't know... thanks
Angie, start your own post is best, not hyjack others?
same answer on all our cars here USA 1996 to now.
1: the scan tool, push button DTC reset.
2: pull neg lug of battery for 5 min and put back.
3: drive off the errors, some take 30 cold driving cycles.
4: tell car engine and I tell you the IOD fuse to pull to only reset PCM. 3.8L below answered this.

the scan tool can be
rented, bought, borrowed, or get it scanned in any car shop
or for free in many car stores (ask em)
get it scanned or reset or both.
now about EGR, repair, just replacing a part does not
guarantee a cure,. the EGR path ,there must be unclogged
all shops know this, but not you? This EGR is directly sensed too and that fails too.
406
The PCM detects that the EGR Valve Assembly input voltage is above the maximum acceptable value.(bad wiring"?)
IOD fuse J13 , main IOD fuse 60 amps pulled , under hood fuse box near the battery main.
all real scan tools have a button reset.
$13 code readers, mostly not. and mostly useless.
end OBD2 class, 1 of 1000.

yes it is..you need to replace egr valve assembly..make sure you disconnect battery while replacing..some times fault will return even after replacing valve..

This may have to do with a bad wiring. Check all the wiring associated with EGR operation. Whenever a computer throws a code about high or low circuit voltage, it is usually attributed to abnormal wiring.
SOURCE: 2005 Dodge caravan 3.2 code 406? is this an
This code is for the EGR valve, "P0406 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit High", this doesn't necesarily mean you need to change your EGR valve but it's probable. Check with your dealer this just might still be covered.

What's the question?
Take it to a shop and have it fixed or replace the EGR Valve yourself.
