Needless to say you have not found the right shop yet. You need to know if the water pump is pushing the coolant thru the system, is the system full of coolant and no air pockets, and is there excessive pressure in the system. Do the radiator hoses and heater hoses get hot when the engine warms up ? Are you sure the system is full of coolant ? Do the radiator hoses swell up when the engine gets hot ?
It sounds as if your blower resistor has an open in it. You will have to replace it. It is located on the passenger side under the dash near the blower motor. I will have four wires going to it. The colors of the wires will be blue/white, blue/black, blue/red and blue/yellow. I will be held in with two screws. When you pull it out it will appear to be as thin as a credit card. Replace it and it will repair your problem.

I just changed out a tailight on my 2000 Nissan Xterra, so I assume it may be similar. You have to pop the plastic strip which runs across the back. There are pop rivits in it.
