SOURCE: 2008 Toyota Tacoma Excessive brake pedal

Your dealer is not lying to you.
All of the Toyota product line with ABS has this phenomenon. What Toyota has done is incorporate "Brake Force Distribution" into the braking system. What that means is there is now a sensor on the brake pedal/brake rod, going to the master cylinder. The sensor measures how FAST you press on the brake pedal. This activates the ABS pump, and supplies more brake fluid, harder, to reduce the time needed, such as a "panic stop"; the pedal travel is much longer than you are used to, because of the way they have to measure the speed of the rod being depressed. In actuality, this system is much better than the old system, as it also prevents wheel drag. It just takes a while to get used to. Really, there is nothing to worry about, I explain this same thing to my customers every week.

I hope this helps you out.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.

Free wiring diagrams are normally only available to small sections. for a full wiring diagram, you need to buy a service manual.

2008 lincoln navigator shifter locked no brake lights is there a way to test the brake switch

Yes , with a volt meter . Find the switch an back probe wires ,testing for voltage in , then press the brake pedal an check for voltage on wire going out . You'll need a wiring diagram so you know which wire is the right one's . You can find free wiring diagrams at http://bbbind.com/free_tsb.html enter vehicle info . year make model an engine size .Under system click on lighting ,then under subsystem click on stop lamp . none of the brake lights work including the high mount stop lights ? A electronic module (smart junction box) controls the lower brake lights . The high mount are controlled directly from brake light switch .

you will need a converter box,..... because a trailer uses the same bulb for the tail/turn signal/brakes where as your truck uses seperate bulbs for turn/brake. Any parts store will have what you need and a diagram to wire the trailer.

I need to add a trailer light plug to my truck. i need the tail light wiring diagram for a 2005 toyota tacoma pickup.

The diagram will do you no good it you do not have amber turn signals on your trailer. What you need is a "black box" that, when wired correctly, interprets the amber turn signal on the truck into a pulsed flash to the red brake lamp on the trailer. If the trailer does not have amber turn signals, it is impossible to wire a harness with a diagram. Sorry.
