SOURCE: 2008 Volvo V50 - Cabin Air Filter Location?

It's under the dashboard. First you must dismount the accelerator pedal (!), remove some dashboard plastic on driver side. The filter is somewhere behind the central console.
I think it should be changed every two years. Look into the manual.
The company where you take the car for oil & filter change every year must change also this filter with no additional charges. Of course they charge you for the filter, which is not very exponsive.

SOURCE: will not start dash reeds key error

V50 2005 and similar year have this problem.

The ignition key has two parts:
- remote control (with battery)
- RFID identification (without battery)

Car has two separate locks.
The upper lock is where you put the key inside and turn to ignite.
The lower lock is right at the steering wheel which electronically locks the wheel.

The "upper lock" sometimes refuses to recognize the key. It might be a bad contact or bad mechanical placement. Typical problem for this car.
Try hitting the dashboard and the lock with your fist few times (not too much!). If there was only a bad contact, the car may start a few times.

If you have dropped the ignition key from 1m of height (or higher) to the concrete, the RFID module inside may not have survived. Try with spare key.

If nothing helps, take the car to the volvo shop to change the upper lock. That was my case...
The lock looks like this:

SOURCE: fuel filter location 05' volvo v50

If it's a 2.0D engine the diesel filter is in the front of the engine. It has a small metal protector over it for the case of a crash.
It is a black plastic "bottle" with two pipes on the opposite sides - left and right. It also has a connector - for the fuel heating.

SOURCE: volvo v50 egr valve

Diesel engines 100% have EGR valve. It sometimes gets stuck if the car is driven only short distances.

How do i check if the pcv valve of my volvo v50 2008 model wagon needs replacement? where is it located in the engine?

There's a relatively easy test. Use a rubber glove and hold it over teh oil filler while the engine is idling. If it inflates the glove, you need to replace the PCV kit.
Also, do the same over the dip stick tube. If it inflates...

It should gently suck the glove in, showing slight vacuum.

As for replacing it - wheee! That's a fun one. You basically remove the fan, the air tube (if it's a turbo) and then the intake manifold. Then you replace the oil separator, use a zip tie to poke around the drain from the oil separator to ensure that's open. The banjo bolts are the hard parts to get to, but otherwise it's more tedious than difficult.

There's a kit from FCP that is about $350 or so, and contains all the parts. I ended up using regular screw-type clamps instead of the Oetiker 'squeeze' clamps Volvo used on the hose connections.

When to replace volvo v50 wagon timing belt?

I believe it's every 80k. Just do it if you don't know when it was done last , these are non-tolerence motors and you will do damage to the valves if you break the belt in motion.

Volvo v50 t5 oil leak

Most likely it is the breather tube and/or the oil trap box (integrated into the oil filter housing). if the box is plugged or the diaphragm is torn the box will send oil to the top of the engine via the hose.

do you also have a high pitched whistling noise?

Volvo has extended the warranty for the oil trap box (filter housing) to 120k miles and/or 10 years.

VOLVO V50 OIL ON CAMSHAFT COVER

I will try and simplify the problem. I have an oil leak, which I traced up the back of the engine to the cylinder head area.
When I removed the top plastic cover on top of the coil packs I found oil in every recess next to the coil packs. The crankcase breather pipe was also off. The source of the leak is not evident, but it is definetely above the cylinder head gasket area.

Volvo 960 estate blowing oil from the oil filler cap Whats causing it?

Your PCV / Oil trap is likely clogged. I have had some luck running Mobile 1 Synthetic oil and half a can of seafoam in the engine oil to clean things up but it is likely that you will have to replace the pcv system.
