While there are a variety of reasons your Chevrolet Uplander is overheating, the most common 3 are a coolant leak (water pump, radiator, hose etc.), the radiator fan, or a failed thermostat. A more uncommon reason is your radiator is partially scaled up and under a heavier load, the cooling capacity is not sufficient.

It could be your engine misfiring. Usually the check engine light will be on with a code PO300 with random or PO301 for cylinder #1 and so forth. Have it checked because running with a misfire will damage the catalytic converter and be a costly repair. A quick scan will lead you to your area of trouble.
