1985 190e Engine turns over, won't start

When I turn the key, none of the dash board indicator lights light-up. The engine turns over but will not start. Usually, when I start the car, all of the lights light-up when the key is turned. I suspect a blown fuse maybe or a bad solenoid. The battery is new. Any help is greatly appreciated.

When the car ignition is turn on all accessory lights should lite up telling the computer everything is in good contact. If none of the dash lights is not lighting up you don't have a good ignition contact and computer is not getting any power. your stater will crank and turn the engine over only but the fuel pump and ignition module and other accessary is not turn on, the car will not start. What turn everything on is your computer, computer; control all items like fuel pump, sparks etc. You have to get all dash light working again in order for computer to turn on. Check all the fuses and relay under the hood, next your ignition switch in your steering wheel may be faulty allowing only starter to work and not others. this unit wear out and common problems to all cars, parts is 35 buck to replace and you going to have to take the steering columns apart to get to it. Not easy but it will take time. Get all the dash light working and you will be back in the game. good luck and hope that help some

MY PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER 'S HEADLIGHT'S AND DASH LIGHTS WORK, BUT THE ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER. THERE IS NO SPARK COMING FROM THE ELECTRICAL WIRES.

When you say no spark, are you talking about the spark plugs, or just the general wiring?

If the engine won't turn over, then it isn't moving, and if it isn't moving then you need to check the following in this order:

1) Does the battery have power i.e. around 12.4 volts or over? No? Charge, test or replace battery.

2) Do the car's head lights dim considerably if turned on when attempting to crank? Yes? Possible lack of battery charge or faulty battery.

3) Assuming the battery is fine, can you turn the dash warning lights on and off with the key? No? Faulty ignition switch.

4) Is there a click sound when you turn the key, but no starter motor spin? Check starter motor connections or replace starter motor.

If none of the above prove to be of help, then please report.

Battery is new, engine won't turn over.

The voltmeter should only go as high as 14-15 volts when the engine is running. I would check for a poor connection between the battery and starter.

With the engine off turn the key to on. Then turn the key just past on, but before the starter starts. This should turn all the dash indicator lights on.

2002 Tahoe engine will not start

Electrical problems are difficult to diagnose in person without testing ...however, it seems that you may be loosing the body ground, causing power loss to the clock and likely the computer as well. As the starter is able to turn the engine, likely there is no problem with engine grounding. While cranking, the accessory side of the ignition switch should remain "hot" otherwise you would loose the clock every time you started it up. If it's not a ground problem, I'd look at the ignition switch itself to make sure it's not dropping power to ignition system while starter is engaged. on some vehicles this can also happen at the starter relay if an ignition bypass is used to provide hotter starting spark.
