Polo with CLP engine code. The wipers work but when you activate the washer nothing happens.Diagnostics checked no faults were found. Could this be the actual switch on the column or an ECU fault?

Sorry, but I don't have diagrams for your model. I would try to send power from the wand connector or checking the switch continuity before fitting a new wand.

The wash circuit is not monitored by the ecu. Try jumping power to the pump motor. If that works, the wand is the likely problem. If not, replace pump.

Testimonial: "The pump works with direct power."

Where is the relay and fuse for rear wiper located ?

The rear wiper / washers are controlled by the GEM - generic electronic module .
NOTE: The generic electronic module (GEM) will not activate the rear wiper system if either the liftgate or the liftgate glass is ajar. If either the liftgate or the liftgate glass becomes ajar while the rear wiper is in operation, the GEM will park the rear wiper motor.
There are two distinct modes of wiper operation:
  • Off Mode: In this mode, there is no rear wiper activity, and the wiper motor will be in the PARK position.
  • Interval Mode: This mode is selected when the rear wiper switch is in either the Interval 1 or 2 position. When this mode is selected, the rear wiper motor is driven up onto the glass by activating the rear wiper UP relay. When the wiper motor HIGH/LOW/PARK position input reaches the high position, the UP relay is deactivated and the DOWN relay is activated to reverse the wiper motor direction. When the wiper motor reaches the LOW position, as determined by the HIGH/LOW/PARK position input, the GEM deactivates the DOWN relay and will begin a new wiper cycle 1 to 10 seconds later, depending on the interval position selected.
Inspection and Verification
  1. The wiper/washer system is a generic electronic module (GEM) controlled system; refer to Section 419-10 .
  1. Verify the customer concern by operating the wiper/washer system.
  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.
Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical
  • Hoses to windshield washer pump
  • Wiper linkage
  • Fuses 6 (5A), 8 (5A), 15 (5A), and 20 (5A)
  • Wiring harness
  • Loose or corroded connector(s)
  • Relays
  • Motors
  • Multifunction switch
  • Washer fluid level switch
  1. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel and select the vehicle to be tested from the NGS menu. If NGS Tester does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • Check that the program card is properly installed.
    • Check the connections to the vehicle.
    • Check the ignition switch position.
  1. If NGS Tester still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the New Generation STAR Tester manual.
  1. Perform the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If NGS Tester responds with:
    • CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to Section 418-00 .
    • NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for generic electronic module (GEM), go to Pinpoint Test M.
    • SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and perform self-test diagnostics for the GEM.
  1. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to GEM Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics.
  1. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Your best bet is take this to a ASE certified repair shop !

How do I fix my windscreen washer on my CLK 200 Kompressor.

IF you've checked voltage and found no power going the wiper system, then I would back trace the power line. Logic would dictate that if the fuses were good, and you have no power to the wiper system then there is either a relay in line that's bad or you have a broken wire in the circuit.

I have a 1998 Plymouth voyager and the climate control lights are flashing. I ran a test i found on the internet and got it down to two lights flashing(the ac and the recirculate). I got it to where the...

OK got your message on the other post (About the van) I am assuming that your Voyager is equipped with Automatic Climate Control. Follow the instructions below and you will get a better idea of what is wrong with your system.

Calibration/Diagnostics
1. To enter calibration/diagnostics test, set parking brake. Start and warm engine to normal operating temperature. With engine idling, turn blower switch to high. Turn mode switch to panel. Open all outlets. Move temperature to full cold.
2. Press and hold rear wash and rear wiper buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds (Until ALL LEDs illuminate). All LEDs should illuminate for 5 seconds. Rear wiper and intermittent rear wiper button LEDs will flash alternately during calibration/diagnostics test.
3. After approximately 60 seconds, if only the rear wiper button LED is flashing, calibration is successful and the system is okay. If rear wiper and intermittent rear wiper button LEDs are flashing, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are present. (See "Reading Diagnostic Codes" below)
4. To exit calibration/diagnostics test at any time, press the rear window defogger button, rear wiper button, or cycle the ignition off and then on. Test will automatically terminate 15 minutes after calibration/diagnostics is entered.

Reading Diagnostic Codes
1. Perform calibration/diagnostics test. If a DTC is present after calibration/diagnostics test has been performed, system will flash rear wiper and intermittent rear wiper button LEDs in sequence. Rear wiper represents code level, and intermittent rear wiper button LED represents code value.
2. Each time the rear wash button is depressed, rear wiper button LED wil cycle to the next code level in numeric sequence. After code level 5 is reached, rear wiper button LED will cycle back to code level 1. See table below.

Fault with saab 9-3 aero

Hello I have a saab 9.3 SS 04 and had the same problem.

- intermittent wipe doesn't work, at all
- windscreen washers don't work, at all
- "normal" continuous, and fast wipe work, but the wipers
freeze in the middle of the windscreen if you let go of the
control stalk, rather than sweeping back to the resting position
- same "freeze" happens with the manual wipe (push down on the control stalk)

The weird thing is that, this morning, for about 10 minutes, it seemed to fix itself,
partially - the washers started working etc - but the intermittent wipe still didn't work. However not long after that it went back to the symptoms described above.
also if I unplugged my car battery for a minute the washers worked for several seconds but again same problem occurs.

Solution is to replace your wiper motor. its that "simple"
worked for me. The wiper motor has a lot of electronic stuff and seems to control the washer engine.
Good luck.
