Question about 2006 Nissan Altima
SOURCE: I REPLACED DOME LIGHT AND
What you heard was probably the grounding of the hot wire on the new dome light. I would remove the new light and look for a place where the hot wire has grounded on the body. I'm sure this is what blew the fuse.

sorry i have to say this, but have you checked the bulb? the cover pulls off pretty easily.next, check the fuse. the dome light fuse will run with another electrical component. be sure to check them all!and if you can manually turn on the light. check the door switch located in the door jamb close to the latch.
