Disconnect and check the battery negative first, located in the trunk,"it's the accessory battery" if it's NOT giving a minimum 12 volts the convertible top will malfunction, and please DO NOT JUMP START OR RECHARGE at 12 volts WHILE CONNECTED TO THE CAR, if you choose to recharge it while in the car use a trickle charger at 2 amp over night.
If the red battery light remain present and the battery shows fully charged 12 volts, check the big fuse 100 under the 200 amp located under passenger side foot wall behind the black circle cover, remove foot wall carpet, foam, metal plate the 10 mm nuts to see the fuse cover.
Good luck.

SOURCE: AC & Rear wiper switch button indicator lights blink

The procedure for re-setting the HVAC control panel on a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan follows:
With ignition on but not running
1. turn knob to air vents
2. turn fan knob to ON
3. temperature setting on COLD (2X) {I have dual temp controls}
4. hold top(rear wiper) and bottom (rear wiper with wash) buttons pressing down together until all the buttons cycle through (this will require 1 to 2 minutes of continuous pressing)
I learned this from a very helpful local Dodge service adviser

SOURCE: top won't go down, sometines it won't go up

This symptom almost always points to a mechanical issue, not an electrical one. The SLK hardtop is notorious for needing to be lubricated every couple of years. Here is a link with directions and photos:

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r170-slk-class/1426014-lubing-vario-roof-pics-1-krytox.html

Sticking joints are the most common culprit to intermittent raising and lowering problems. Once those have been lubricated and that has been checked off the list, then look into electrical issues. Remember, you don't rebuild an engine that has only ran out of gas. The switch that is triggered by pulling back the partition separator is likely not the issue. If this switch is faulty, it will not even let the pump run to open the trunk. In order for that switch to be the problem, the switch would need to be shorting out AFTER the trunk lid opens. But that still also means the pump would be stopped and no longer be heard.

SOURCE: my battery light indicator went

The battery light only comes on to tell you that the BATTERY IS DISCHARGING with the engine running. The usual CAUSE is the alternator or battery cable connections, NOT the battery itself.

Btw 125i..roof won't go down..roof starts to open then hovers between open & closed..checked luggage compartment lid tray is fully down and boot is closed..any suggestions?

Check that the hydraulic overide screw (if it has one) has not come loose to release pressure. Make sure all windows are down. Make sure boot isn't locked. Test luggage switch hasn't failed by disconnecting at the plug and get your multi meter and check for a complete circuit at the switch itself when depressed. Failing all that manually lower the roof and then refit and try then. This has worked on a peugeot 207 should also work with others

Sun roof won't close 2004 Ford Explorer

The roof opening panel is an electronically operated panel that can be opened or closed by the roof opening panel switch. Actuating the switch in either a forward or rearward motion supplies a ground to the roof opening panel motor. The vent and soft-stop functions are controlled by the roof opening panel motor. These positions are obtained when an internal motor cam opens the roof position switch, removing the ground from the switch. The roof opening panel has an express open feature activated when the switch is pressed momentarily. The roof opening panel is closed by continuous activation of the switch until the sunroof stops movement. This function is controlled by the roof opening panel motor.

Roof stopped working

Most obvious thing to check is the fuse that feeds the motorized assembly. If the fuse is good, how about the switch? Is the motor getting power? If motor is getting power when you depress the switch, then motor is good if it spins - the problem has to be with the gears that the motor is powering to move the roof.

Don't be intimidated. If it was put together by man it can be taken apart. U can do it, just use your noggin and be brave!

When the roof is open, the warning light won't go out.

I know that when you lower the top, you have to hold the button up for several seconds after the top is completely lowered in order for the locks to engage. The top motor will still run and when it is finished, you will hear a "ding". to indicate it is fully down. The error will go away and your temp will show up again. I had to call the dealer to find this out.

C70 volvo top won't go down. Gets down in the storage area and then pluses up and down about 1/2".

There is probably a stop switch the roof depresses to shut off the motor when the roof gets to the bottom of the storage area. Look in their for something out of place. If everything seems in order, remove the switch and test it. Then go from there. If you need help after doing this, let me know.

2004 Mini cooper convertible roof

Make sure that the microswitches in the rear trunk are all depressed. There is one where the parcel shelf (the cover that covers the view of the trunk from the outside) sits on the left that is usually the problem make sure that it is sitting on the microswitch (pull down on the closest side to you so it pivots forward and sits on the microswitch. Then make sure that the latch on the left side (drivers side) of the rear that allows easier access to the trunk switches the microswitch there. now close the trunk and try the conv top. the parcel shelf, the rear access latch and i think the trunk switches need to be depressed for the top to work. I know at least the first two.
