I was changing the spark plugs and caused a spark on the alternator to battery wire now my battery does not charge? I replaced the alternator but it still isnt charging, the fuse is good, is there a relay from alternator to battery?? what can be causing this, it was working fine before
I found the problem YEAH. It was the fuse that is in the side of the fuse box under the hood, Its where the battery wire from the alternator connects thru a fuse to go to the battery, Its one hundred and something volt fuse. It took care of the problem instantly.... Thank you all for your replies...
I was told it could be your mega fuse I'm having the same problem with my contour svt
Im am having the same problem as you on my 96 explorer. it is not anything to do with the battery. it has something to do with either a fuse or a connection somewhere between the batter and the alternator but i dont not know what it is yet. when i start the car it will run until the battery dies beacause the alternator isnt taking over. i would print out the schematics for your car and see if you can find it yourself.
Do this first, crank the car up and let it run, while its running, remove the positive terminal off the battery and see if the car is still running. If the car is still running while the terminal is off is saying your new alternator is working properly. Now place a positive terminal back on to the battery post by taping and touching the positve cable on the battery( while the car still running) post testing and see you getting any sparks between the post and the terminal, if you getting no sparks you may have kill your battery. If you do get sparks, it probably your battery. You can test it by putting a car charger on the battery overnight and see if it will charge. If not than you know the battery has a bad cell. most auto part store they can test to see how good is the cell. If you getting no sparks check you voltage regulator. hope that help a some

I took the battery to the store and had it tested, They said the battery was low but working properly. can the starter solenoid be the problem?
I don't understand. Is the problem that there is no output from the alternator or is the alternator working properly, but the battery won't take a charge? I would remove the battery and take it to an autoparts store to have it tested. They will test the battery for free.
It's a fuse that links the alternator to the positive battery cable if you change that and it still doesn't have a charge check all of your wires
