Doesn't matter which setting I have it on. The air only blows out of the defrost vents.
The default mode on HVAC systems in most cars is the defrost and usually is caused by a vaccum leak at a supply hose to the heater unit.
It has vacuum activated doors to close and open when you move the switch. Your have to check your switch for a disconnected hose a broken hose that is leaking the vacuum.

You probably have a vacuum leak on the passenger side. its a small plastic hose some times they come unpluged from the engine. or brake.

check for a vacuum line that has fallen off the diaphram vacuum "switch can" near the vent shift lever at the heater box under the dash passenger side

air condtioning is controled by vacum it sould be a valve under the dash on the passanger side try moving them with the air on to see which one it is
