How do I remove and fix a starter on a hyundai 1997 accent

How do I remove a starter on a hyundai 1997 accent 1.5 Then need to possibly repair bendix or solinoid. I'm told this is probably the problem. When I turn the ignition key the starter makes a king of load grinding/clicking noise

I've done a service on my car before. So Oil change, Air Filter, Oil Filter, Spark Plugs, Fuel Filter, brakes. Is repairing the starter myself being too ambitious?

I can't help with actually removing the starter, however, it is not usually a difficult job on most cars if you can access the starter. That said, in todays world, rarely do you repair a starter, would normally just replace it. Would be unusual to find parts to re-build it. Parts store will charge you a core charge, get it back when you turn in the old starter, and they send it off to be re-built. (I assume they still do that, knock on wood, haven't changed a starter since my Dad & I did on a '74 Gran Torino back in late '70s.)

Maybe you should weigh your options cause probably cheaper to replace that rebuild disconect bat before you remove starter take all wires loose remembering where they go dont mix up and remove 2 or 3 bolts that hold the starter in place then remove and replace in reverse order

On 2007 hyundai accent my starter sounds like it's not enaging for some reason. .. any body have any idea..

Starter not engaging is typically caused by a bad "bendix spring" in the starter. Not an expensive part, but getting the starter out to put it on can be a pain.

1. Raise front of vehicle
2. Disconnect Negative Terminal of Battery

5. Go under vehicle & disconnect starter wiring, then remove starter.
Installation is reverse order of removal

1997 hyundi accent parked in driveway next day would not start no click when you turn the key battery is charged

hi from uk locate the starter then attache to starter is the starters solenoid where the positive lead from battery is connected now check the thin wire with a push on spade terminal it is /should be connected to solenoid of its own make sure this wire is pushed on securely with a click that locks it in place ? i have come across a few hyundai accents with this wire not correctly secured giving the same problem as yours the location of the wire if you look ? would be best re-routed from its route to below cable so it cannot be accidently pulled off solenoid during services? as i am sure is possible cause or not secured correctly at factory ? in 1st place ?hope this helps?
