My 1990 Subaru Legacy Sedan auto. trans hard to get to 20 mph. Harder to go to 40 mph with RPMS going to 5. Then can go up to 70 mph but trans.is dragging. Is it the governor?

SOURCE: fault code

The information I can find on this shows a code 15, not 16. It shows it as a problem with the #1 shift solenoid or it's harness. Causing different internal transmission concerns. The book I found shows no code 16,this could be a miss print. Either way, this is a concern that appears to be an internal trans. problem.Good luck.

make sure you bleed the air out of the system on the top left hand side of the radiator or the car will overheat due to air lock

SOURCE: 1999 Subaru Legacy Sedan.. speedometer works

I finally fixed mine, on my 1999 Subaru legacy 30th anniv edition. . .

I removed the speedometer head, and resoldered the green connector on the board. Then I also ran a wire to duplicate the trace wire from the middle pin to the first connect (about 4mm). Problem gone.

98 ford contour 2.5l standard trans shows mph in reverse and 40 mph at appr 5 mph

I had a '94 Subaru Legacy that would, without any warning, show extremely excessive speed readings (80 -90 mph.) when I was going only 30 - 40. I never did figure it out, but eventually it totally stopped doing that. I realize this is not an answer, but I suspected the speedometer cable, although I never confirmed it. That almost surely has to be the culprit. You might try and disconnect it, wait an hour or so , reconnect it and see what happens. Good luck !!!

My subaru legacy auto losses its overdrive and

could be a TCU fault (trans ecu) or a bad speed sensor (there are 2) on the trans.
