SOURCE: having trouble shifting gears wont

You need to get to the transmission linkages with some penetrating spray, right where they are attached to transmission at front drivers side. You may have to remove battery & tray to get better access, but 90% of time that's the problem area. You'll see where the shifter linkages attach & pivot on top. The top linkage is your power valve,(like a kickdown) which kicks it down on acceleration, then returns after. This needs to move freely, and it may take some work & spray to get it loosened up, but that should help with your problem, as it affects the shifter itself too. After you get them movong freely, put a good coat of white lithium grease or similar on them . On my 95 neon, i'd have to do it, about once a year or more. Initially it would shift out of lower gear to next at higher revs, and when stopping it would shift down hard. Good Luck

SOURCE: automatic transmission wont catch into any gear

You sould have been moore frequent on your transmission fluid changes, and you shouldn't have taken it to Jiffy Lube either. Your best bet is to drain and fill the trans fluid run it shift gears. Drain and fill again. Do this 3 times. Yeah the transmission fluid is expensive. on the last drain and fill you want to get a bottle of LUBE GUARD from NAPA or who ever sells it. put the whole 10oz bottle in. Shift Rev, 1, 2, 3, D. Neutral Rev D. If that don't work then you have bad seals.

I have a 2000 cav 5 speed I think something came apart .Shift linkage seems to work right but all of a sudden it don't go into gear.

There are two possibilities if the shift linkage "works" but the vehicle isn't engaging gears. You aren't saying whether or not you can get the vehicle into gear with the engine running. If the shifter will go into all gear positions when the engine is off, but not when the engine is running, you most likely have a clutch hydraulic problem. If the master or slave cylinder is faulty, the clutch disc will not disengage from the flywheel, and then the transmission will not go into gear. If you CAN get the vehicle into gear with the engine running, then you may have a stripped clutch disc. This will prevent the pressure plate and flywheel from making firm contact and will result in no forward or reverse motion. Any other reason for the issue would be internal to the transmission.

Gear lever is not activating but the clutch is fine

problem with linkage cables. get under vehicle and select a gear
manually with engine off, then climb inside, start up with clutch
pedal depressed, release clutch, if nothing happens, problem in gearbox, if it takes off, problem with linkage cables.

2000 fiat multipla really hard to get in gear sometimes impossible and loads of play in clutch pedal

A little late; the problem is probably fixed bu if it happens again, put the car in an open place, turn off the engine, put it in gear, step on the clutch and try to start it.
If the vehicle creeps forward when doing this, it is a sign that the clutch master or slave cylinder (this latter is near the transmission housing) is leaking internally or fluid has been lost and not replaced.

WHen under load the motor revs up and it seems that the Clutch is slipping, it has 100000miles and I suspecting the clutch or the high / low range might be messed up, its a 4 plus 3 manuel transmission.

If it feels like the clutch is slipping, chances are it is. If there was a problem in any component that has internal gears, you would have grinding noises. Gears cannot slip. As the clutch wears more you may hear grinding when you try to change gears but that is because the clutch won't fully disengage so the gears are spinning too fast to shift properly. Before that happens, have the clutch replaced.

My 2002 saturn vue won't go into gear

Sir ,
Kindly tell us whether your engine starts up properly to idle . If yes , then your problem is with the transmission system or with the clutch plates . If the clutch plates are too empty , the gear would be almost stuck . If the car is in N-neutral , try pushing it and while moving slightly try to change the gear . Engine oil and transmission oil should be checked up regularly .
At present situation you will have to have your gear system unjammed or opened up by a professional and have your gear box replaced or checked for jammed gears which is pretty time consuming and difficult job . Else you will have to replace the clutch plates and youre ready to fly again .
Thanking you , Dixon Dominic

Hard to get into gear before its warmed up

is it automatic or stick shift. well i guess it a stick shift. its not that its hard to get it in gear cause it warmed up. no try this before you start the car engine off can it go in gear easily engine off now. and dont step on clutch. moves in easily now start it step on clutch is it hard okay turn off. Pump the clutch. several times turn vehicle on now is it easy to go in gear if yes then you will need a clutch hydraulic that means a slave and clutch housing unit.

Gear getting stuck hard to change gears

Hello your looking at a clutch most likely if your gears are not enjoying this means clutch is at adjustment end these clutches are self adjusting and hydraulic and the clutch slave cylinder is internal on the transmission spleen. So you will eventually not be able to get your vehicle to go in gear,Also your clutch master cylinder the fluid level should be checked most times these leak internal causing the clutch plate to become wet ounce that happens time to change it.The best advise would be to take it in to a transmission shop hoist it up you will need a hoist to further inspect quotes are free and maybe get two separate quotes on the job this is a big job even for a qualified mechanic.

I bought a 1995 Nissan 240sx s14 a month ago.(146K milage). It has a manual transmission. It didnt have any problems when i bought it. But right now when i try to up-shift from 1st gear to 2nd gear or 2nd...

The vehicle appears to be suffering from "Clutch Drag". This is often caused by insufficient disengagement of the clutch pack components. On the Manual transmission I would expect 1/4 to 3/8 inches of "Free Play" at the clutch pedal. The distance between the rest position, and when depressed the point of first resistance. Anything in excess of this, requires adjustment to the Pedal stroke linkage, to obtain that measurement.
If this cannot be achieved then, the only alternative is to replace the Clutch Pack and Flywheel Pilot Bearing. At the same time. As the vehicle has covered 140k miles, without positive service records, a Transmission OIl change would be in order too.

Gear shift seizing

I would suggest that your Clutch Pack is in a progressive stage of Failure. These indicators are outlined in your symptoms.
As you will appreciate, each application of the Clutch pedal allows the Clutch Plate [Spinner]to Disengage and Rengage on shift completion, but in a different place on the Flywheel and Clutch Pressure Plate, after each shift, Up or Down the Gears.
This I conclude is why you are getting varying responses, during your driving cycles.
