96 Dodge Neon Cuts out while driving

Engine shuts off without any warning. After waiting 10-15 minutes, it will start again and run for 15-20 min and then shuts off again. I have not attempted any fixes as of yet. Someone told me that it was vaporlock, but that doesn't make sense. I also heard of fuel pump not giving enough head pressure and then injectors fail. Any help in diagnosing this would be very welcome.

Visually, the temp guage shows normal operating temp. I'll check on the coil/electronic spark control module.

Had similar problem with 97 Plymouth Neon.  It turn out that the Crank Shaft Position Sensor was failing,  since I replaced it the car has been running smooth with no problems.

There is a temperature sensor at the bottom of the battery box. If it's bad or simply disconnected the car will behave like that.

Could be engine coolant temperature sensor or bad coil or electronic spark control module. Verify that the temperature is where it should be when warmed up. If the coolant temperature sensor tells the computer the engine is cold because it isn't functioning right, it will cause the car to run very rich and die. When it cools down it run until it warms back up then it will run rough and die.

I'm having the same problem. A mechanic told me it's the fuel pump over heating? Is that a possibility?

Dodge neon shuts off while driving

the neon has a problem with the wiring near the engine mounts in that it breaks or otherwise looses connectivity and that set of wires are for the cam position sensor
with that sensor not reporting to the ECM , the engine is turned off when there is not reaction from the engine , connection is restored and so ti start up again
check in the wiring harness in that area for the problem

My kia rio will start and run for about two minutes then cut out.I wait two minutes then drive off for another two minutes before it cuts out again like there is no fuel

It is probably the cpu shutting down the engine for something important like no oil pressure, over heating etc. Check for engine fault code but best advice is not to start it until you know exacxtly is happening as engine damage could result if you ignore the warning
