Nissan sentra 1993 wont ship transmision stuck on 2nd gear

Usually, stuck on 2nd gear is a safety mode(limp in) used in modern vehicles. Have your vehicle transmission scanned for trouble codes and fix whatever caused the trouble code to set( if any). Or worse case scenario your transmission may need overhauling. Have your transmission checked by a qualified, honest tech. since the wrong call can cost you thousands of unneeded repairs.

Its a gear shift issue.

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this occurred then its shifter assembly alignment issue.

You need to have the systems computer tested for fault codes, that is the very 1st thing that needs to be done. If they rebuilt the transmission for $900 they did not replace very many parts or do a through job, the average cost is more like $2500.00

The fluid change didn't help any,
maybe made it worse.

I know you will have issues with my
answer,but I once owned a trans
repair shop

You need a trans shop and a lift , just to pull trans.
You won't like the price of any hard parts,if you need them,Nissan Only.
Used to own a trans shop,I would suggest you pass on that job,doing it yourself

governor or throttle valves are stuck

how do u know its 2nd gear, has the cable snapped that controls the gear change.
if not try tensioning it, if no joy another transmission

drain and fill trans with fresh fluid
trans may have to be rebuilt

Hi, I hope this will help you , there is a part call the governor ,is on top of your transmision ,and looks like a distribuitor,,this have a plastic gear at the end of the shaft that wear out and dont let the transmition to shift ,,it have a ten mm bolt that holds it in place ,,,is a comon problem of nissan..... good luck.....
