Hey, I'd rather be OVER prepared than under. I know we only get one shot at this. But thanks

I read some place that you should think about doing the water pump since it's co-located at 72k miles you want to give a guess on that

If you need a schematic, I think you are probably not experienced enough to do this job yourself.
It is aroudn 4 hours work - including opening up the engine, aligning the cams, etc.
If you get it wrong, you break your engine - straight away, no messing. You will not get a second chance to get it right.
If you are confident that this is something you can do yourself, you will be able to work it out - it is very straightforward - if you know what you are doing.

Water pump bearing faulty is first thought. How about faulty alternator/battery? you didn't mention any check engine lights that were on. Alternator bearings can fail, creating a no-charge situation that will run your battery dead, creating a "no power to injectors and no start situation"... if your waterpump is locked up, it can keep your belt from operating other accessories. Waterpump first choice.

BMW 318i M46 belt tensioning

adjust ur belt by following steps
now that you know where the components are these components are driven by a belt. So when you turn your AC on there’s a belt that’s driving the AC compressor, when you turn the stirring wheel and you have that nice that easy feel of turning the stirring wheel when you’re parallel parking your car that’s the power stirring pump doing its job. Your alternator is keeping the battery charged, the lights on and the engine running. So I want to show you where the belts are, what they look like, how to adjust them and how to tell a bad belt from a good belt. As you can see these are your drive belts, this is the AC drive belt it drives the AC compressor, this is the alternator drive belt it drives the alternator, if you look down here you can see this is where the adjustment is on that AC compressor belt, if you look right here this is the top adjusting bolt for adjusting the alternator either up or down to tighten or loosen the belt. There’s a bolt down here that locks the alternator in place and this bolt is the pivot bolt for the alternator. So if you’re going to let’s say remove your alternator belt you’d have to remove these covers, loosen this bolt, loosen this bolt that’s underneath this cover and adjust this bolt to either lower the alternator or raise the alternator, if you’re belt was too loose you’ll pull up on the alternator, if the belt was too tight you’ll

How to change belts on 2002 Nissan Frontier 4 cylinder

2002 frontier 4 cyl: 1) take off air intake tube, 2 screws 13 mm above radiator. 2) 1st belt for power stirring has pulley, undo pulley screw and unscrew adjuster bolt enough to take belt off 3) 2nd belt for alternator and water pump has no pulley but adjusting bolt and mounting bolt on alternator pulley, loosen mounting bolt and unscrew adjusting bolt enough to take belt off, if alternator will not move go under the truck and remove plastic cover- 6 screws 13 mm heads, after that look directly under alt. Pulley and should see a screw head 9/16 in, loosen it so alternator can move, now should be easy to remove belt ( it will be a lot harder to put new one though) 4) 3rd belt for compressor has pulley so follow #2 to remove it ,have to be done under the truck. First 2 belts will have to work around fan blades to remove them so wear gloves. After replacing belts remember that not to over tighten bolt on pulleys.

I need a belt diagram for a Mercury Grand Marquis 4.6L V8 engine 2006

SECTION 303-05: Accessory Drive 2006 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis Workshop Manual DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Procedure revision date: 03/18/2008 Accessory Drive adobe.gif Printable View (104 KB) The accessory drive system:
  • has a single serpentine accessory drive belt with 6 ribs.
  • has an idler pulley.
  • has an automatic drive belt tensioner.
  • is not adjustable.
The accessory drive system provides power to operate components which power other systems. These could include components such as the generator, power steering pump and A/C compressor. Each of these components is equipped with a pulley which is driven by the accessory drive belt. The accessory drive belt is driven by the engine crankshaft pulley. One or more idler pulleys may be provided to facilitate belt routing and alignment. The automatic belt tensioner maintains correct belt tension and compensates for component wear and changes in system load. System load changes can be caused by the A/C compressor clutch engaging or disengaging, or demand changes on other systems powered by the accessory drive belt. To maintain correct operation of this system, it is critical that the correct length drive belt be installed. The pulleys must also be correctly aligned and kept clean.

Automatic tensioners are calibrated to provide the correct amount of tension to the belt for a given accessory drive system. Unless a spring or damping band within the tensioner assembly breaks, or some other mechanical part of the tensioner fails, there is no need to check the tensioner for correct tension.

I have a 1999 Suzuki Esteem 1.6 and Its squealing when I start the car, I was wondering if it was either the accessory belt or the timing belt? or is it the tensioner? thanks.

change the belt. it is probably time anyways. I like the GoodYear Gaterback belt. While the belt is off you can run the car for a minute. If the noise is from the timing belt you would hear it(unlikely though). Install belt and let it run for a few minutes. Turn off and check for proper tension. Replace tensioner as a last resort. Enjoy the quiet.

When to change Timing Belt.

I am pretty sure you are asking about the serpentine belt. The timing belt is inside the engine and should not need replacing unless the engine is running REAL bad.If you are talking about the serpentine belt,a rubber belt which the engine drives and it powers the alternator,a/c,power steer, power brakes. There may be a mileage requirement for changing, but it is more about inspecting it and deciding. If there are many small cracks,or a few big cracks,or some fraying around the edges, then it needs replacing.Or if it's stretched a little too.A sign of that would be slow overheat,a/c may seem a little less cold than normal.First you need to make a diagram of how the belt is routed. To change it,you have to pull the tensioner away from the belt side to loosen the belt, then slip the belt out of the grooves and off.The tensioner is round and looks like it isn't connect to anything but a wall or have a purpose but it is spring loaded. When you put the belt back on,start from the engine, pulling up slightly so it doesn't fall off,and work both sides until you're back at the tensioner.Push the tensioner away from the belt wrapped side and slip it over the edge.
Good luck! Greg

Changing water pump 2000 ford focus

Changing a water pump is pretty basic. Since the coolant system is a closed system you only need to be concerned with that system. For instance you since you have to mess around with it anyway you might as well change the thermostat and flush the coolant system. Make sure your radiator hoses are in good shape and that's about it.
If you have basic mechanical skills and tools you will have no problem replacing a water pump.

As far as information with the actual replacement there are a number of experts here including myself that could explain how to do it.
However no matter how good our explanations are it just can't compare to a good repair manual.
A repair manual for your car at Auto Zone would likely cost between $12 and $15. It is a great investment if you are going to keep your car for any length of time. When you sell, it shows the buyer you took the time to maintain and repair it right.
I personally like Haynes Manuals.
I hope this helps.

Changing a timing belt on a 2001 Honda Accord

All of your fan belts needs to be taken off because the timing belt is located beneath the crankshaft pulley. There is a possibility that you may need to lift the motor off its motor mounts to gain access to the timing belt. Remember, the timing belt can't be seen from the outside.
