Is the check engine light on ? It sounds like the engine temp sensor is not right, but if that were true you should have a check engine light and a code for the sensor. Have you checked fuel pressure ?
This sounds like a classic case of either a dirty/faulty IAC (Idle Air Control) motor or a sticking EGR valve. If you can prevent it from stalling by keeping your fot on the gas slightly and it always restarts right away and runs good when restarted, I'd suspect the IAC first. If it "chugs"when stopping and will run rough even with a little (not a lot) of gas pedal and/or it runs rough when restarted, I'd suspect the EGR.
have the car checked when the check engine light is on,also a good scanner will be able to give you the history codes, get back to me with the codes and we'll go from there. you need someone with a professional scan tool
Go to Advance or Auto Zone and have them run an obd scan on it and it will pin point why your light is on and could solve your problem. This is often done for free.
The cause of the low compression could be a valve is not completly sealing or bad piston rings. Depending on weather you have blue smoke out the exaust. If not then I'm sure you have a valve that is not completly sealing. Not some thing to just let go, first try Z-Max. Z-max helps get rid of carbon deposits in the engine.
The relays that you hear clicking away are the problem Im sure. more than one occasion I have seen the relays go out and cause this problem.
The reason the lights dim and the blower slows is the reduction of voltage the alternator is puting out. When the other problem is fixed then this new one will dissappear.
Try cleaning the throttle position sensor like you said. If the contact is dirty it will not run right.
