found a solution by reading further with people that had the same problem.....fixed mine by pressing down and holding the trip odometer button while turning the ignition switch to the on position , keep holding button down ....all dash lights light up and both tach and speedo gauges will make a full sweep and back down again , will display codes in the window ..which i should have written down but didnt.....off and back on again with the ignition and my truck starts again.... tks for the help !

Does your key have a chip on it? If it does its probably the problem

  • Anonymous Aug 23, 2009

K, more than likely its in the ignition switch. Have you had any work done on it lately

2000 dodge ram 1500 clicking and wont start batery is good, starter is good, lights are on dash as normal, still wont start, keeps on clicking

get a jump, take it to Auto Zone or other parts store, have them run a free diagnostic on the battery, and the alternator. My bet is that it's one of the two that needs replacement.

We have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 pickup and now when we try to start it just clicks. Is it the starter. email address [email protected] By the way we have a new battery.

could be the starter, but first try to clean the battery cable ends, try this next time it clicks turn on the head lights and see if the lights go out when it clicks if they do it is a power supply problem ( battery, battery cable ends, ground cable, etc. ) if they stay on it is the starter....GOOD LUCK

1500 Ram wont start, no crank no click nothing. Air cond and dash lights work just fine just wont start. Battery is ok tried to jump, no luck, put in different battery no luck.

First thing is to check is the ignition fuse/relay under the hood for a blown fuse or bad relay. If everything is ok then set parking brake with truck in park/netural and have someone to turn the ignition over to start and at the same time use a test light to check for fire at the starter solenoid. If no fire then the ignition switch or netural switch on transmission is causing the problem. If you do have power to the starter solenoid then the problem would be either the solenoid or the starter drive locked up on the flywheel. Be sure to remove the negative wire from the battery if you need to remove the starter. Hope this will help you.
