1994 corvette starts good if sits for 2 days but when warm, have to crank it to start and then a lot of gass smell...kind of bucks and some times backfires until warmed up
You can try checking your spark plug insolaters for cracks and check your spark plug wires for the same. Spray water with a spray bottle (NOT A HOSE) in a mist form and if you see any kind of a light blue glow, that would be a sign of a bad or faulty wire. Do this while car is running or idling. This method works best when its dark outside. I have a 1994 Corvette myself and I have had the same problem. Mine was a cracked insolater, bad coil wire, and two cracked spark plug wires. The car ran perfect after replacing $160.00 dollars worth of parts. (2 water pump gasgets, bottle of coolant, 8 spark plugs, and spark plug wire kit). Make sure coil wire is with it.You can try checking your spark plug insolaters for cracks and check your spark plug wires for the same. if you try to start it . turn it over a couple times then turn off key and then try again immediately it prob will start. if not replace the coil wire that should take care of it . let me know how it goes. have a good day!
It may have jumped time. However, if you smell gasoline, it got flooded. Here is the lay of the land. If it cranks, as in turning over but not starting. And you smell gasoline. The fuel is good, but there is not electrical spark going to the plugs. Bad coil. Cracked distributor cap. Moisture under the cap. Check this before you worry about the timing. You first have to test for ignition. Also don't pump the gas when starting it. See what happens. Also when the car is warm, never pump the gas. Also check the wire going from the distributor cap to the coil. Good luck, Hope this helps, Best, Mark
had same problem with 2000 dodge ram. would run great then start to buck then die.let sit would start then same thing. it took some time for the crank shaft position sensor code to pop up. changed sensor (very easy) good ever since.
Possible flooding, cold weather can freez open injectors causing them to leak into the cylinders. Press the gass pedal all the way to the floor and crank the engine for no more than 60 seconds. The cylinders will clear themselves allowing proper mix of air/fuel and should start easy. If that does not solve please specify if the engine is 1.8l or 2.8l.
hi if you dont want it to be towed you could most of the time let the car sit and the gass would vaporize and the the car could be started again! but to be sure you could pull the ignition and fuel pump fuse\relay then crank the car a few times then put the fueses back in and you should be good to go!!
is it carbureted or fuel injected?
