Windshield wipers on 1998 chevy venture

The oddest thing happened with our chevy venture. driving back from the lake in pouring rain our wipers just stopped working properly. we had to travel very slow on the highway because of this. the wipers would stop then start and then stop on their own even though my husband had them on. they would stop and if my husband braked a little they would start again but only for a few wipes on the windshield. we drove like this for an hour or so, and when we started to approach the city the rain stopped so he turned the wipers off. but they would just start going sporadically by themselves, even tho they were off. does anyone know why this would happen?

That was probably because it wears the engine that drives them to work. carry some internal contacts are called brushes and these are over. may also be that your system is damaged electrical wiring. or the alternator current nesecitas fail to bring a workshop to review electric luck

I have a 1998 Chevy Suburban.whenever it rains the driver side floorboard becomes wet. door seals are good. where could the leak be coming from?

Possibly from the windshield. Is there any rust around the windshield area? Check for debris in water drain outlets under the wiper arm cowling.

Wipers don't touch windshield

The wiper arm springs are weak, just grab a used set of arms as most ventures wipe great.People who stick their wipers straight up,usually when freezing rain is coming ,ruin their wiper arm springs and have less wiping pressure too, so have to replace their arms at some point. PEOPLE STOP LEAVING YOUR ARMS IN THE UP IN THE AIR,OFF THE GLASS POSITION.

I an '03 Chevy Venture van whose windshield wipers won't go down.

Your windshield arm is in need of repositioning. Take off the cap on the windshield arm and loosen the nut under the cap. Reposition the arm so that it faces 180 degrees flat to the passenger side of the car. Tighten the nut. This should solve the problem you've described.

1997 Chevy Venture wipers

Does the wiper arms "park" properly when you turn them off or are they different from left to right? In other words, is one sitting higher than the other?
One other thing, I have had a few come in to the shop where the wiper arm was loose where it attached to the spindle. You can check those with a 13mm wrench or socket and make sure they are tight too.

Wipers only work on high.

It sounds like the switch went out. I have seen a lot of GM products have this same problem.

Windsheild wiper Motor??

the wiper system has a series of linkages, they are located at the bottom of the windshield (under the plastic at the bottom of the windshield) there are pivots that connect the pieces together and one of them has likely worn out and disconnected itself from the system.....if you are handy it isn't a big job.......just remove the plastic cover at the bottom of the windshield(usually held in place by several screws and sometimes a few clips) and locate the failed part them replace it .Good Luck!
hope this helps! thanks for choosing FIX YA!

Windshield wipers

Mine did the same thing on my S10 pick up.
I took the motor off, drilled out all the rivets, cleaned it made sure the brushes and commutator were OK, greased the drive and put it all back and no improvement. I bought a replacement motor from here: rockauto and they have been fine ever since.
