During the day driving my van there is no problems but sometimes after shopping I come out of the store to start my van and putting it into drive;it will start but will not hold an idle and dies. Then I keep trying and trying finally it holds and idle and I can drive away
This happened on 2006 kia carnival, erratic idle, sometime it would stall.
Dirty catalytic converter.
Either change it or clean it, we took it out and cleaned it.
If it runs ok, off idle, check and clean anything that has to do with idle air system. Clean throttle bore and throttle plate see if it helps? Sometimes, you can unplug maf sensor then take it for a spin, if it does better, something wrong with that system, whether sensor--wiring circuit--pcm? Any applicable trouble codes? I agree with other person about the tune-up. good luck
Perhaps it needs a tune-up. The fuel injectors could be dirty; the idle speed could need adjusting; you might have spark plugs that need replacing or re-gapping. Best take it to a mechanic.

Check all of your vacume lines. If it isn't a vacume line it is most likely the O2 sensor.

I had a similar problem and had an engine tune up done and the car runs almost like new now. Mine is a 2001 Hyundai Accent too.

have your idle speed sensor cleaned,also checkd the air flow sensor located in the air cleaner housing,you best bet is to have it scanned for PCM soft codes(codes that wont turn on the check engine light on)
