I;ve got a 1994 volvo 940 basic model, my horn isn't working. I've checked the fuse, and connections on the horns, cleaned the contacts etc. and still no go. what are my options. I can't get the car safety checked without a horn! thanks, Brad
Please check power going to horn with power tester or you can make your own with a bulb holder and two wires earth one wire and put other to the horn possitive and get some one the press horn if it lights then put one wire to the possitive and the other to the negitive press horn again if it lights then all wires and connections are ok so its your horn, if any time the bulb doesnt lighe then the problem lies it that wire.
First thing would be to check the horn itself run a wire from the battery to the where the wire connects to the horn if the horn beeps you may have to dig deeper into the horn switch

most likely a failure in the horn contact under the steering wheel
there is a carbon button that is grounded oit on a brass insert in the base of the wheel
Check to make sure that horn is connected at the steering wheel. Remove the portion of the wheel that you push to activate the horn and reconnect the wire. If that doesn't work check connections at the horn(s).
Check appropriate fuse isn't broken and from fuse work back along wire checking connections and insulation until you reach the horn. If you've not found a fault download user manual (for free). Ask advice at a Honda dealers or e-mail Honda directly. Auto-electricians aren't cheap. I'm not certain but I think youv'e gotta have working horn to pass MOT. Good luck. Hope this helped.
have the mechanic recheck his adjustments on the transmission range switch. the shifter shaft goes right throug the switch and it may have been adjusted or replaced when the backup lights were repaired
take off cover to fuses in the centre consol reachin and push down the large black relay i get this myself on my volvo 940 1991 this relay does a number of things but to long to explain
