The fuel gauge reads full, till the low fuel light comes on and then it will drop to empty. typically when it still has half a tank of gas. If I ignore it the next time I start it up it starts on full and stays there til it does it again, I estimate it has 4 gallons of fuel left at that time.
It needs a tank meter I'ts in the fuel tank
I replaced the fuel pump assymbly not once, but 3 times and my
fuel gauge still tracks from Full to Empty in 10 seconds. So I know
that the problem is not in the fuel sending unit. The problem must
be elsewhere...but where? Who knows. Could be a broken wire or
the fuel gauge itself
I have this same problem with my 99 montana and my buddy is a mechanic and he says the instrument cluster is the problem and you have to remove it and send it to GM for repair. If yours is like mine dash lights, etc have problems also
Your gage is sticking in your fuel tank. you have to get inside the tank from under the back seat if you cant get in there then tank must be removed this is a commen problem and not hard or expencive to fix. hope this helps.
Where is the fuel vent valve is located..2001 pontiac montana
It could always be a bad fuel level sensor which is part of the fuel pump in that vehicle, but GM vehicles around that year are known for failures in the instrument cluster as well, is there any other readings in the panel that seem unusual at all?
