I suggest check fuel presure and injectors (if have there) and air injection system (IAC, MAF and other sensors).
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback

You have a list of things to look for. If the battery is new, it should turn over the engine, if it is dead, why did it die? Is the alternator charging? Is the battery any good? Did you check the electrolytes? Just because it is new doesn't mean it is good. Then check the terminals, are they clean? A car will not on a dead battery, it will not with battery power only for very long. When you get done with the electrical stuff, move on to the fuel stuff. Is it fuel injected or throttle body? Either way, I would try some fuel additive to clean it up in there. If you get it running. Some of your sensors could be bad. Sometimes the carbon builds up in there and throws the car into a fit, it won't run good at all. Are the dash board lights going crazy? A sign of the alternator going bad.
hi,
i actually used to have a 1995 pontiac grand am that did the same thing....only difference was i didn't have to restart the car....usually what i would do was drop the car in neutral and gas the car and i'd notice my temp gauge go down and my heater gave heat.....chances are it's a sticky termostat. Hopefully that helped.
when it dies try spraying the crank sensor with brake cleaner to cool it down if it starts right back up then replace the sensor....... ALSO These cars are known for bad ground wires.....remove the kick panel on the drivers side pull the carpet back there is a thin black piece if plastic with a bunch of black wires going to it pull it apart and clean the metal piece inside with sand paper apply electrical contact grease put it back together this ground causes many problems
I would take a look at the throttle position sensor being faulty, but I can't explain why there is the only one fault code. Hope this helps. Good luck.
I just went through lots of troubleshooting and expense on my 1996. Whenever I would lift my foot off the accelerator and was below about 30 mph, the rpm's would starts jumping around and sometimes it would stall. If I gave it a little gas (accelerator), I could sometimes keep it running. It also backfired once in a while. Starts right back up. Also, if I let it idle while in part, it would die after 1-2 minutes.
I ended up finding a hole in the fuel regulator. About a ~$70 part if you get an AC Delco, but very simple to change.
Is there corrosion on the battery cables under the insulation. There may be a smaller + battery wire going from the battery to the fuse block. Same for the ground. Are these cables clean and secure. If so start checking fuses and voltage.
