On your year whether it be an extended cab or regular cab there is only one fuel pump. They usually run in the area of 90 to 95 dollars and not to bad to change as long as the tank is just about empty.
The only way I can think of to add a tank is to add a fuel cell in the bed. Or have one custom made to go underneath. If you add a fuel cell in the bed, you can just use it to fill your other tank when its low with an electric valve. Hooking the tank to a tank switch would be a lot of work since the fuel pump is in the tank.
The airbag is there, what's most likely wrong is the key switch may be going bad. Take your Ranger to a reputable mechanic and ask them to check it...unless you have an OBD II or a multimeter.
If you go to (www.repairpal.com) and enter all your vehicle info, and select the repair in the list, it will give you prices for your particular area, based on your zip code.
