1983 ford r/v 460ci. when put in gear, the engine stalls antistall not operating corrctly, what activates the solinoide to tell the vacumm to come on and activate the idle control?

Ford does not spec the other information in the casting number.

You need to get a recon kit for the carburetor.

sounds like engine is starving for fuel. an engine will run on very little fuel at idle, but under any load. it has to get full flow. that is why car stalls out when putting it in gear. check or replace fuel filter if need be. have a good day ! could also be the ( tcc) torque convertor solinoid, but check fuel filter first.

STARTER GROUND TO THE ENGINE BLOCK.RED WIRE IS BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE TO STARTER SOLENOID.

Check all your vacumm lines it may have a leak telling the ecm to add more fuel

If the starter does not work and you have ignition switch again and the new boot may have problems in the solenoid that activates the starter switch or pedal switch clucht or if the transmission is automatic. It is important to check if you have good voltage on the ignition switch
