This could be one of three things , either you have an alignment issue , bad suspension parts or just the lack of tire rotation. If the flat spots are at an angle from outside edge to inside edge then the problem is with your rear struts. If the flat spots are either on the out side edge or inside edge then the you have an alignment issue. If the flat spot are consistent all around the tire then you have a tire balance issue or bad rear struts.

What is the cause of a flat spot while driving

Hi Khalil:
There are two sources that I am aware of:

1) If an emergency stop was made and the tires wire locked up, as the vehicle skidded to a stop, rubber was scrubbed off the tires from friction with the pavement. When trying to drive on these tires, the flat spot will cause a discernable "bump" when impacting the pavement.

2) While not as common, older or inadequately inflated tires on parked vehicles will present a "flat spot" when the vehicle is first used. This will be particularly obvious in cold weather. As the tires warm up while being used, this flat spot circumstance typically cures itself.

Hope this helps.

Why are tires that have flat spots from sitting over a year not safe to drive on?

Any imperfections or flat spots will be worked out after you drive a few miles to get some heat into them. Some tires even develop flat spots overnight. It's normal for pretty much all tires...Keep driving on them, may take 500 miles of easy driving...It may make you nuts listening to the noise until they round out after some driving...saailer

Can i flat tow or dinghy tow an 85 civic automatic ?

if at all possible tow it on a flat bed so that all wheels are off the ground, if this is not possible, tow it with the drive wheels off the ground, if its front wheel drive tow with front off the ground, if its rear wheel tow with rear off the ground, if none of these options are possible, dont pull the car further than 50 miles and try not to tow it faster than 40 mph as this can possible cause transmission problems

Tire valve defects on pirelli tires - 5 flats in less than a year

tire valves are completely independant of the actual tire - is it the actual valves causing the flats? if so, i think either your shop is using poor quality valves (unlikely), or someone is messing around with your valves when your not looking. if i am way off here, please give me some more details on the flats you are getting.

I need to replace flat tire

You will have to go to a tire shop, because a special machine is used to remove/install the tires. If there is a nail in it, on top. The tire can be patched for under $5, and often free. But the tire still needs to come off the rim.

The car shakes when driving over 50mph. tires have been balanced, rotated and the alignment done. the check engine light came on when it first started to do this and has since gone off.

Have your tires checked for flat spots. My Car does the same and i hade the same work done and is still shakin. The guys at the garage found a flat spot on one of my rear tires which was the cause. Good Luck.

I have a 97 honda accord and it is helpful to have the tool to remove the clip. you can pick one up pretty reasonably at the local car store. it's pretty much a flat tool that fits between the handle and the door pane.'

Worn left rear tire

Usualy the problem you have is associated with incorrect tyre pressure or camber adjustment.Has that strut or tyre/rim ever hit a kerb and are all the stabiliser bushes in good condition. Some sport based models had more camber than standard. As to cost cant help with that as there are too many differences in price depending on who and where you are and shop.Good luck
