It is doubtful is unscrews, it is more likely it pulls off.

side of motor firewall side down near cv shaft that goes into gearbox if you look there you will see a 8mm bolt with the sensor going into the side of motor

run the fault codes to check what put the engine light as it could be either engine or gear box

Check the linkage and neutral safety switch for moisture..

Linkage must able to move the neutral safety to switch gear.

have the fault codes read
indicates a problem in the torque converter clutch servo/ solenoid or wiring
Take it to a professional auto transmission specialist for a proper diagnosis

think it just unscrews if its the same as a opel astra

its in the gearbox, right over the main gear in your differential
