1997 Pontiac Bonneville has the security light stay on. The car will not start while the security light is on. I have to wait until the light goes out to start. Does anyone have the same problem?

Turn the key on for 10 minutes, until the security light goes out. Then turn it off for 5 seconds, then back on and start the car. See if the light goes off. Don't open any doors during this time.

Security light stays on car won't start. 1994 pontiac bonneville

The security system (VATS/PassKey) is having problems, it's typical on those cars and it will gradually prevent the car to start anymore. You can find a great write-up here: http://newrockies.ca , this has been the only thing that saved my Park Avenue.

The security light in my 99 bonneville comes on and wont start

you nay have a worn out ignition key pellet or broken wire inside the ignition switch that goes to the anti theft unit and it is being put in a passive mode which will allow the car to start after a waiting period.
