2006 Chevy Colorado. I think my timing jumped. I went to start then I heard something popped from drive on the side under the hood. I notice the crankshaft sensor was not connected.

I wonder is you picked something up and the serpentine belt whipped the stick or whatever and disconnected the crankshaft position sensor. Can you reconnect it and start the vehicle?

2006 Chevy Colorado 2.8 4 cyl. Engine is surging under normal acceleration. It has about 85K.

Clean the MAF sensor and the throttle body. Plus the Idle air control motor. Use a toothbrush with brake clean. Just spray the MAF with brake clean both ways..

2006 Chevy Colorado 2.8 engine. The motor surges slightly under normal acceleration but smooth out under hard acceleration. Gas mileage is normal.

Have you monitored the engine sensors when this happens, if not have that done.

if you broke sensor wire at the electrical connector.the dealership more likely can get you another sensor connector with new wires splice in new wires and connector.

Rough idle

I had the same exact problem on my 2004 Colorado (3.5L). Cleaned the MAF sensor (with MAF sensor cleaner) and throttle body/plate - cleared it right up.

You didn't list your engine size so please pick the applicable to your motor size:

Removal & Installation 2.8L & 2.9L Engines To Remove:

Lift the vehicle high enough to gain access to the knock sensor (KS) through the left front wheelhouse.
Remove the left front wheel and wheelhouse liner.

Knock sensor (KS) (A), Engine harness (B), Knock sensor (KS) connector (C)

Disconnect the knock sensor (KS) connector.
Detach the knock sensor (KS) from the engine block.

To Install:

Attach the knock sensor (KS) to the engine block.
- Tighten the bolt to 18 ft lbs (25 Nm).
Connect the knock sensor (KS) connector.
Install the left front wheelhouse liner and wheel.
Fully lower the vehicle.
