As you have probably figured out by now, you will have to treat it as a no start and troubleshoot it when it fails to start. Until you figure out if you are loosing spark or fuel to the injectors when the engine dies you have no direction to go in.
Hesitation problems can be caused by a number of thing's on vehicle's with electronic fuel injection , not like the old days of carburetors where most likely it had a bad accelerator pump . Throttle position sensors (TPS) can get a worn spot that would act just like a bad accelerator pump . MAF sensors (mass air flow ) Can also cause Hesitation plus ruff running , bad fuel economy , a IAT sensor ,(intake air temp ) ECT - engine coolant temp. sensor can also cause this problem . Unless you want to replace all these parts i suggest you have it diagnosed by a qualified repair shop that has the electronic diagnostic tool to test it .
ABS light on , DTC- diagnostic trouble code could be set in the EBCM - electronic brake control module . could be a wheel speed sensor getting ready to fail .
COULD BE STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER.CHECK FUEL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 48 PSI. IF LOWER HONDA ADVISE TO REPLACE FUEL FILTER.YOU HAVE TO REMOVE FUEL PUMP THROUGH ACCESS PANEL FROM THE FLOOR.IF FUEL PRESSURE OKAY.REPLACE AIR FILTER.REPLACE SPARK PLUGS IF YOU HAVE OVER 110000 MILES ON THEM.IF SPARK PLUGS BEEN CHANGED ALREADY.IF ENGINE STILL WONT CRANK AND IDLE.CODE SCAN FOR A FAULTY IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE.
It could be all the above plus it could also be a bad fuel pump.My best suggestion would be have your plugs changed and take a look at them if there is a high carbon build up then check your air filter, ignition components and your engine control systems. If they have a gray or tan colored build up then there burning ok. I would try a tune up first to see what kind of response you get before going at the engine components. Also it wouldn't hurt to have the fuel pressure tested to make sure its at the proper pressure to eliminate the fuel pump.
check your fuel pump pressure 90-00 has fuel pump problems check your fuel pressure and see if its up to spec's on that year, Hope that helps you out...
is the check engine lite on if so whats the code?
