Most thermostats are located in the upper radiator hose housing mounted to engine block. Make sure engine is cold put a catch pan under your car to catch any antifreeze that comes out. Remove the two bolts holding the housing on the engine and remove thermostat and gasket. Clean engine block where gasket goes very good and also the housing, have to remove all gasket material so when installing new one it will seal and wont cause a leak. Make sure when you put the thermostat back in it goes in spring side down towards engine. Replace housing and bolts. replace lost coolant with a 50/50 mixture in your recovery tank. Start engine let heat to temp and check for leaks.

Why 2001 chrysler pt cruiser still overheating after I replaced the fan?

When it's up to operating temp feel the upper and lower hoses. They should both be hot. If the lower is cold and the upper is warm than you don't have any flow. A thermostat would be a common fix for this.

2001 pt cruiser over heating wired fan direct fan works but car still over heats replaced thermostat temp. sensor fuses etc...

Sounds like the engine head gasket needs to be replaced. The gasket has deteriated from the engine cylinder and coolant passage and overheating the coolant. Sometimes you will see coolant mixed with engine oil, or milky solution on the oil dipstick

2001 pt cruiser

I recently had the same problem with my car. The solution for me was to remove the coolant lines going into the firewall(be sure to let it cool down first)and blow out the heater core with compressed air.I went from blowing barely luke warm air to awesome heat...good luck

2001 pt cruiser no heat

did you check the fluid level by removing the rad. cap? Radiator should be full to top. If Chryslers are low on coolant, the heater will not blow warm air.
