You probably have a clogged up exhaust system building backpressure on the engine. Check your mufflers and catalytic convertors if you have them something is restricting the exhaust.

Glowing red exhaust manifold on range rover 92 also miss and backfires

I have seen this happen in the past if the catalytic convertor is defective and needs replacement. I suggest you take your vehicle in to see if your catalytic convertor has broken down and needs replacement.

I hope this helps you out if it does please give me a YES that I did attempt to help you. Thank you

Manafold on left side gets red

Check catalytic converter to see if it is glowing also. Could be stopped up not allowing exhaust gases to escape. Hopefully it will have two of them otherwise the right side should be glowing also if it is stopped up. Sometimes it will also have a funny smell like sulfur. Hope this helps. Converter is located beneath vehicle in-between manifolds and muffler(s) if dual system.

I am installing a performance chip and need to know the location of I.A.T sensor. Surburban,1500,350 engine,[5.7ltr.]

  • It may be built into your mass airflow sensor (if its not in the air intake tube. Reference:chev tech
  • I hope that is not one of those chips you can get on ebay, real they are a waste of money. there is not much you can do to improve fuel mileage.
