First of all, i do not know anything about car troubleshooting. i have a 2001 323i bmw. i noticed that there's a symbol that the light came on. it's like a circle with lines on each side. i tried to look it up and one of the things i saw that it represents brake (i think brake pads). then 2 days ago, the ABS symbol lit up as well as another symbol ( a triangle with some kind of a circle or a curved arrow(?) around it. what could it be? is my car in trouble? am i in trouble (probably facing a huge financial expense in fixing the car? If you're satisfied with the way the car handles and rides, don't worry about it. If you're concerned about the light, take it to a dealer and they will troubleshoot and correct whatever problem they find. But it will probably be an expensive way to turn the light off.

It is the defective bulb warning light. It is a warning that a bulb has failed and needs to be replaced. There is a similar symbol that is an automatic transmission warning light but from your description I believe it is the bulb warning light. Hope this helps.
I know this is an old thread, but my 2006 325i Nav screen went bank also, but the radio still played. I noticed the glove box light and trunk light did not turn on also. I was told from mechanics is was probably a CID module for $2200, even though I mentioned the glove box and trunk light light were out and specifically inquired about a fuse. The mechanics never checked the fuses, because I checked my fuses in the glove box and found the fuse 61 marked with a BMW symbol that looks like light bulb was blown. The Nav screen started back up once the fuse was changed.
Brake pads

Have the brake pads checked
immediately.
For your own safety: use only
brake pads that BMW has
released for your particular vehicle
model. BMW cannot evaluate nonapproved
brake pads to determine if
they are suitable for use, and therefore
cannot ensure the operating safety of
the vehicle if they are installed.<
As for the limp mode unless you have an expensive diagnostic system this usually has to be done by BMW (anything to get ya to a dealership!!). The comms problem, is the key turned in the ignition?
BMW's are renowned for having airbag light problems. Most of the time, there isn't even a problem with your airbags. Sometimes a sensor goes bad, sometimes it's a wire is loose, sometimes there's nothing wrong at all. It could be anything. But it is very unlikely that the airbags would not deploy in an accident, but of course the best way to know for sure is take it to a mechanic that can read the codes with a computer.
I don't have access to the symbols, but you, as a BMW owner can log on to this site, and have access to the original manual for your BMW with diagrams of all the symbols and what they mean. Good luck, hope this helps. Curt https://www.bmwusa.com/Secured/Content/Forms/Login.aspx
