How change antifreeze in car raditor?

The anitfreeze might not be good enough and the coolant is frozen or slushly so it does'nt circulate. The therostate can be stuck or the raditor fans could be bad. With the gauge hot is the raditor hot too? All over? The raditor can be partly plugged. The raditor needs to be brimming full and the recovery coolant tank needs to bein the hot to cold range.. Water is'nt the only thing that's in the coolant as without antifreeze it'll freeze and not circulate.

these newer cars use a surge tank, located on the fender well, ddrain old coolant from radiator, you can go further by doing a full flush, conect any hoses you may have taken off, fill the surge tank as you would fill any normal radiator

Best way to change the antifreeze is to open the petcock at the bottom of the radiator to drain the antifreeze/coolant. Once completely drained close the petcock and refill. Only other way would be to get a flush kit which involves cutting a heater hose, inserting a T and running a garden hose through the system with the radiator open at the bottom through the petcock while the motor is running.

you may have a water pump that is starting to fail. Look for the water pump that's driven by the fan belt. look at the housing of the water pump there is a relief hole that they drill in the casting and when the pump begins to fail it will drip out this hole. If that's where your leak is, it's time to change the pump.

Not only the cap, but you have to find the drain. They are usually put in the most difficult places. After ten years consider having your system flushed, it'll be good for your radiator. Take the car to a jiffy-lube type place and they will change your oil for you too. The Taurus is a good car, treat it right and it will give you good service.

your heater core is bad. It will not leak very much anti_freeze but it will get worse. And can try a raditor stop leak but i would change it.
