Stand in front of your car with the hood open and look down on your headlight unit, you will see what looks like a cookie cutter wheel, there is an adjustment screw next to it.....this adjusts horizontal aim, left to right, which is indicated on the wheel.
Looking at the center and rear of the headlamp unit is the vertical adjustment screw.
The horizontal must be adjusted first.

On most vehicles, it's usually the screws with the long springs attached to them. Good Luck

Adjusting headlights

No. There are two adjustment screws for each headlight assembly. One adjusts for up and down, the other is for side to side. New adjustment screws can be purchased at a parts store.

Which way do the headlight vertical adjustments turn to raise the beam?

Turn on your headlights and locate the two adjustment holes that have the adjustment screws inside them on the sides of each headlight. The top hole has the vertical adjustment screw and the bottom hole has the horizontal adjustment screw. Turn the vertical screw clockwise to raise the beam and counterclockwise to lower; turn the horizontal screw clockwise to move the beam right and counterclockwise to move the beam left.

How I adjust headlights on a 1999 grand am?

  • Determine the type of headlights you have on your car. You can only adjust composite headlights if they bolt to adjuster plates. For dual headlights, look on the headlights for four adjustment screws per side. Sealed beam units have interior adjustment screws under the hood.
  • 4 Locate your adjustment screws. On sealed beam units, you may need to remove the trim screws and pull the trim off to reveal the Torx screws.
  • 5 Begin with you headlights turned on to the low beam. Use a Torx screwdriver for sealed beam units and Phillips screwdrivers for other types of headlights.

This could be the adjuster screw. Park you car close enough to a wall or any other reflective surface and "mark where the beam is hitting the surface, then try turning the screw and gauge which direction the light beam moves. Adjust it to suit.

    How do you adjust headlights??

The best way to do it is to park your car in front on a garage door, a building or put a piece of plywood in front. Whichever you use, park you car at least 10 feet away; so you can tell if you are going up, down or in the middle when adjusting.
    1. Remove the four screws that secure the headlight trim bezel to the grille.
    2. Remove the headlight trim bezel.
    3. Turn the headlight high beams on.
    4. Adjust the headlights. Use the adjustment screws located along the outboard side and the inboard lower corner of the headlight bucket. Adjust the headlights until the beams are centered directly on the wall.
    5. Replace the headlight trim bezel.

Adjusting headlights on a 2005 ford freestar

    hello wwhampton,

open the hood, take a close look at your headlights, if it is a headlight assembly, there are two screws with big plastic heads on the back of the assembly, these are the adjusting screws. one for horizontal adjustment and the other one is for vertical adjustment.

if the headlight is a round or square ordinary bulb, the adjusting screws are located near the bulb itself, these are philips screws. one on the top and one on the side.

a suggestion; when adjusting headlights, face the car to a wall about 5 ft away and adjust the headlight.

    tnx 4 using fixya.
