Determine when it misfires, and isolate cylinders. a poormans method is use an infrared temperature gun (one with high range, 700 degrees or more is preferable) and with engine held at rev(say 2500) point at each exhaust port 1 by 1, misfiring holes have colder exhaust than firing holes.
If the misfire is momentary or intermittant, or caused by defective cam or crank sensors, you should see professional help...those problems require more advanced equipment to get the 1st time, unless you dont mind lobbing expensive parts randomly till you get lucky

there is nothing wrong with the timing chain position . Just a series of sensors that have gone outside the set parameters so if you check and change each one you will clear the faults.

Missing, running very rough at idle-very low idle. Engine codes P0011, P0022, P0171, P0300, P0305, P0307, P0316, P2198.

the P0011 and P0022 are the camshaft sensors (both sides) are over advanced--common problem on Fords, and is usually a defective VCT solenoid (variable cam timing solenoid)-it will cause your other codes (P0300 random misfire), P0305 (#5 cylinder), P0307 (#7), P0316 (misfire at startup)-P0171 is a lean condition on side 1, where #1 plug is located (look for a vacuum leak, but a faulty VCT could also cause this)-is there any chance the last oil change set this off? The proper viscosity is very important and may have caused these codes.

The P2198 is O2 sensor signal stuck rich bank 2 sensor 1. Has the engine or sensors recently gotten a bath in oil (seafoam?)-this code indicates something of possibly an over zealous maintenance procedure could have damaged maybe the MAP sensor, or more.... Unfortunately, you have a lot of company. At least you didn't crack a piston or hydrolock the engine. Seafoam is pale oil, naptha, and alcohol. With more detail there should be a reason for all those somewhat related codes-post more information.

when an engine misfires the oxygen sensor will read the oxygen from that cyl sensor doesnt read fuel so every misfire is a air pump to diagnose we have to fix misfire first check the coil wires and plugs for cyl 1 use spray bottle with water run engine hot at idle spray wires with water if enging runs rough shakes or stalls then replace the wires dont spray with to much water if the wires are real bad you may not be able to restart engine

try this first once fix misfire clear codes and drive it

1999 buick regal codep0305

Cylinder number 5 is misfiring. Check spark plug, spark plug wire and ignition coil for the number 5 cylinder. The number 5 cylinder is the closest to the front of the car on the drivers side. With engine running in dark (at night) take a spray bottle of water and lightly mist spark plug wires and coil and look for arcing. Autozone will test coil for free.
