Gauges wont work,horn keeps blowing - 1996 Dodge Caravan

The best thing is to keep a on/off switch near the horn connection and otherside the body where it fitted,,,so in normally keep it ON.if it wont put off by getting out of your truck and to any vehicle...

the fuse blows because somewhere after the fuse , the wire is dead shorting out to ground
check / replace any horn relays

use a multimeter set on ohms resistance and that will tell you that it is shorting out as it will register as a circuit

it is the horn itself faulty.

Need to put key in drivers door and lock and unlock. This should stop the horn immediatly and car should start.

Sounds like a stuck horn relay..Or the horn switch..Check the relay first

try a new horn relay.

I would trace the wire from the horn and see if it was inadvertently damaged when the alternator was installed. If you have a voltmeter, you can remove the horn fuse and check to see if there is continuity between the horn (non hot side) of the fuse and the car body. This would indicate a short in the wire running from the fuse box to the horn. You can also look around the alternator mounting area to see if any wires are being pinched. Hope this helps. wiggle the horn on the colum if it stops then the spring on the horn pad has gone bad

Maybe horn became unplugged. Put 12 v power to horn make sure horn works. Put test light on terminal on horn have someone press the horn button, if light comes on and horn does not blow you may need new horn. if light does not come on you may have bad contact at horn button, blown fuse, broken wire, bad horn relay or possibly just a bad ground.

try changing the headlight switch,I had a similar problem only mine happened after I accidentaly short out when I was replacing the horn pad and for some reason when I replaced the headlight switch the problem went away.
