Question about 2003 Ford Explorer

I tried tapping into my rear accessory/cigarette lighter in my 2003 ford explorer for a power source for 2 after market monitors,so I really need a 2003 ford explorer accessory wiring color schematic?

Actually all I really need to confirm is that the brown and pink are the positive/ hot wire and the other all black is the ground?

WHERE IS FUSES FOR CIGARETTE LIGHTERS LOCATED

Should be under the steering wheel like any other car. There is a box. Just open up the box (You may need to pry off the cover with a flat head screw driver). I own a 91 Explorer and there is a diagram right on the back of the cover along with a fuse pulling tool. The owners manual will also have a diagram. Look for the terms "Accessory", "Lighter", "Socket" etc. Any Ford I've ever seen supplies power to the cigarette lighter even when the car isn't running so it will be easy to test.

Check the # 17 fuse. It should be a 15 amp.

Cigarette lighter not working, already changed fuse

Look in your manual for the Power Distribution Box reference in Roadside Emergencies. It should be located under the hood on the driver's side. My 2002 Explorer has two power points on the center console and the 20A fuses in the Power Distribution Box for them are number 7 and number 9. They cost $3.99 each at AutoZone. The cigar lighter fuse under the dash is unrelated.

Cigarrette lighter (front) in 2002 ford explorer - all fuses good. Key inside lighter caused a spark and it doesn't work.

The cigarette lighter doesnt have power, but the fuse is okay

first check the lighter element. try it in another vehicle too.

Try to plug in a car charger or some other accessory & see if they work.

Do you have a power point too?

Hi Rudy

You will have to inspect the cigarette lighter closely, I suspect your son has bent the 2 terminals that make contact with the lighter, and this will continually giving you a dead short and blow your new fuse.
As for the other problem, your idea of shrink insulation sounds perfect.
