2006 Saturn Ion 2.2L i check the freon pressure it show 25psi and i add a can of freon the compressor wasn't cycle on and off until i add the second can of freon that when the compressor started cycle on and off the pressure stand at 45psi now what i need to do to fix the cycle on and off problem? do it supose to cycle on and off?
You may have overcharged the system, The Aircon gas which should be r134a has a specific pressure and specific temperatures, so I have attached a chart which will show you this information. You will need to measure the temperature of the engine bay area, connect your pressuring measuring device, check the temperature you have measured to the chart to see what the pressure should be: if your gauge shows more pressure than on the chart then the system is over charged, it lower then it is under charged, adjust the system pressure until it matches the ambient temperature/Chart pressure value.
Testimonial: "i don't see a chart."
You may have too much refrigerant in the system. When the compressor kicks on, pressure rises and the pressure switch stops the compressor. You need to get the pressure set properly.

well you cant just put refrigerant into a system. 1st you had a broken line . so the compressor probally pumped all its oil out and you lost the gas. 2 after such an incident you have to have the system evacuated to remove all the air out of the lines and system. if there is any air or moisture in there it will not run right due to freezing and without oil in there you will destry your pump . i suggest that you take it to a garage and get it evacuated be fore you proceed. then you can refill it. also on your vechile it should tell you how much goes in there like 1lb 6oz and there is an amount written on the can so go by that. putting more in there will do more harm then good and cause alot of headaches and sweating. good luck have a good day

Have a code reader or scanner put on the car to erase all codes, this should reset the ac system circuit. Also check the low side clutch cycle switch,it may be the problem.

You should not have to do anything to charge that AC system, except to start the engine and turn on the AC to maximum, then charge the AC system, when there is enough pressure in the system the low pressure switch will trip the AC compressor on and you can continue to fully charge the AC system.
SOURCE: ac compressor wont kick in. Full of freon, new ac
Probably just the a/c resistor which is a big black block thing just under the passenger dash. You dont need to remove the dash just crane your head underneath and you will see it. Mine went and i got another off Amazon for about $30. Apparently they tend to go every so often. Good luck!
SOURCE: where do you add freon to 1997 mercury gran
You should find a fill stem on the black oblong tank or right next to it. This is the low pressure side. You should get a Vacuum pump which can be loaned from Autozone or Oreillys with a refundable deposit. You need to draw out the moisture in the system and create a Vacuum before you refill it.
You should also use an Oil charge for the compressor. There are Freon cans with the oil charge already in them. However, there are different weights of oil used in the compressor. Let the Auto parts people get you the right type for your car. There are different weights, just like engine oil has different weights.
You will need to jump the connector at the low pressure switch to get the system to take freon. Once you have enough to close the low pressure switch you can remove the jumper wire and fill at will.
