So there are two wires going to the starter both coming from the positive post of my battery should one of the wires be going to the negative post

the starter cable is on one side by itself all the others are on the same side as the battery

either your light switch is burned up,(which very common on fords)or your dimmer switch is bad possibly.you might check your body grounds also to eliminate that possibility.hope you getter fixed up..

use a volt meter and check the voltage with the engine off. should be 12 volts then check again with engine running it should be 13 to 15 volts if no then the pcm is at fault. the voltage regulator is inside the computer control and you will need to have it checked out at a dealership. if bad will have to replace the computer on van to correct the charging system. hope this will help!!!

The alternator cable connects to the upper post on the starter solenoid; the same post as the positive battery terminal.
