I have a 97 cavalier it has 283,000miles but well maintained. I drove it in the yard a cuple of times but one day i started it up and it was running rough. I started with the wires they allhad spark so i started unpluging the injecters one at a time and it started to die until the #4 injector and it did nothing. then about two days later i started it up and it ran fine but now still does the same thing. Is it electricle or something to do with the computer.
TRY ANOTHER FUEL INJECTOR.ALSO MAKE SURE FUEL INJECTOR WIRES IS NOT DAMAGE.USE A NOID LIGHT TO MAKE SURE INJECTOR IS RECEIVING POWER.THE NOID LIGHT SHOULD STEADY BLINK.NOT SKIP BLINK OR A STEADY LIGHT.IF SKIP BLINK OR STEADY LIGHT YOU HAVE BAD PCM INJECTOR DRIVER CIRCUIT.
Change the plugs and the wires. They may have been working when you checked them, but not all the time. If that doesn't solve it, be on the look out for a leaking head gasket. Watch your exhaust next time it starts missing. If there is some extra smoke coming out, it could be antifreeze.
Unplug the spark plug wires from the coil pack one at a time and see if the engine speed changes. you will also be able to see/hear the spark each time you do that. if you see/hear one that doesn't effect the motor you likely have a failed or failing coil pack.
might be a good idea to wear some type of rubber gloves when you do that so you don't get "zapped".
