Not 100% certain if I'm getting right where ur coming from, but, I'll take a shot-- with tensioner set, revolve engine with socket on front pulley bolt...this will of course thrust up any slack in belt as if engine was actually running..round and round once twice, three time, and back to TDC on compression...see if cams are coming up at correct or very close to correct angles at each compression-stroke TDC. If not, trial and error with resetting your tensioner until you have judged it right and have the angles coming up three pears every comp stroke TDC..

SOURCE: 1997 nissan pathfinder timing off.

The cam sprockets should have marks on them (dimples) that should align with marks on the rear timing cover. There should also be a similar dimple on the crankshaft timing sprocket. These will align with their respective marks when the engine is at TDC. The alignment marks are in the following locations as you look at the front of the engine: RH cam sprocket at approximately 11:00, LH cam sprocket at approx 1:00, Crankshaft timing sprocket at approx 4:00 or 5:00. IF you can't find the marks on the cover, put the marks on the sprockets in those approximate positions and set the belt by using a belt tooth count between the marks. Cam to cam should be 40 teeth between the cam marks. Between the LH sprocket and the crank mark should be 43 teeth. You can check TDC by removing your number 1 cylinder spark plug and carefully inserting a long screwdriver and watching the rise/fall as you hand crank the crankshaft into position (which is much easier with the plugs out)

2002 Hyundai Sonata GLS 2.7L V6. There are two 3-pin male connectors missing, which are close to the camshaft sensor. What are the names of these two sensors.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category from Washing Machines!

Is the car running okay? If it is, don't worry. Makers make wiring harnesses for all variations of a model and the often have spare connectors with no mating connector for it.

It is impossible to identify what they are, or were unless you have a factory wiring diagram for that specific vehicle. It it worries you, the dealership would know.

Engine wont turn over

Having had this problem (a couple of times on our 2002 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6) my first guess is, its probably the starter. So although there are other possibilities, I would be surprised if it's not. The first time I replaced it with a used starter from a salvage store. That turned out to be a mistake because I had to replace that one within a year. Replacing the starter isn't too hard, depending on your mechanical skill level. The quick sequence is; disconnect the battery. Remove electrical connections from starter. Remove mounting bolts (3 I think). Maneuver the starter down and out (this is a little tricky). If you choose to do this and need more detailed info let me know. I would also suggest you get one that carries a limited lifetime warranty because our Sonata may actually be on its fourth starter (I'd have to look at the records). Good luck.

When trying to re-fuel my 2002 Hyundai Sonata GLS, the pump keeps shutting off as if the tank was full. I can get maybe a gallon at a time before it shuts off. Any ideas?

the vent valve in the tank is not working correctly, you need to ask a dealer if there are any technical service bulletins on this problem

How do i set the timing back up for a 1996 hyundai gle 2lt sonata

this is easy to do without any valve timing marks ,no 1 plug remove and using a long screwdriver make sure its halfway down bore, take off rocker cover and look on end of cams for a flat groove in back of cam or a mark on the front cam bearing cap .If you cant see anything obvious then no 4 pushing the valves down and no 1 cam lobes pointing up with valves closed ,bring piston up to top, fit belt ,TURN WITH SPANNER TO CHECK IT FIRST then start up and go for a test drive to cafe for a coffee and bacon butty with brown sauce.

Changed timing belt

never done one so i dont know where they are, didnt you paint the gears before stripping??never mind just do this ,remove rocker cover first ,then no1 spark plug.use a long thin screwdriver to watch piston move to TDC then back off a bit and turn cams ,look for slots or a grove on back or front of the cam or two recesses in the camshaft retaining caps jus in case the timing marks are on the cams, then with the valves closed on no1 and the cams have the largest gaps between valves and cam lobe ,bring pisto up to TDC fiot belt and turn engine on a socket and rachet on the bottom pulley twice to ensure the vaves clear the pistons before you try to start
