Noises are deceptive at best.

Until you pull the door panel you really can't be sure what it is.

It could be a rusted rail or the window fell off the rail , or, or,o or..you have one of them look and hunt problems.

Most window issues are easily fixed if you have the slightest mechanical apptitude, it won't be that hard.

I hope this helps you some

Thanks for letting FixYa.com...fix ya

The regulators and motor are very weak on this.cars ! best thing to do is buy a new window motor set and replace the old one. is very simple prosess . It only takes 2 screws to relase the.window and 3 to romove the motor.

I had problem with drivers window, would go down but not up. Repaced master switch on drivers door myself, $100. Had to take door panel off to trouble shoot fix. Usally if you can pull widow up with your hand it is the window regulator. Just had to replace both rear window regulators in my '99 GTP. I never use them but rough roads must be hard on the plastic over time. Up cable breaks out of regulator.

I had the same problem on my 99 Grand Prix SE. Window would not work.....then a buddy tried to pull it up by hand so I could at least have it closed and he ended up shattering it. Getting the new window, motor & regulator replaced was fairly easy.....but that wasn't the problem, it was the electric switch. $200 later it works.

The passenger window will not go up, I can still hear it working. It's off track. How can I fix this myself?

The Grand prix was known for having a weak window regulator that uses cables and elctric motor that raise and lower the window. you are going to need a new window regulator to fix this problem.

1998 Grand Prix SE right rear passenger window falls

The window regulator that holds the glass that the motor moves up and down is probably broke. There are some plastic parts that get brittle and break. I'd say you need a regulator especially if you can hear the motor operating.

Window comes down but won't go back up

Since you hear the motor, it's probably the cable connecting the motor to the regulator, but the cable itself is not replaceable. The regulator and motor come as an assembly.

We have a 2002 pontiac grand prix gt with wet snow the windshield wipers came apart at the base (under cowling) got it fixed they work now but the driverside stops at 3/4 swipe then goes down. passanger...

While the wipers are in the parked state, just loosen off (or remove) the wiper arm from the drive spigot and re-position the driverside wiper arm to the correct position.
Re-tighten arm drive mount and all should be well.
