Is there a trick to getting the hose on the gear box? I have everything done up to that point. I can not get the line to screw into the gear box. I checked to make sure there were no burrs , bad threads etc. It looks like everything is lined up and it feels like the threads are starting. As soon as I put a wrench in it it pops back off. Very hard to see anything once I get my big hands I there. I cant turn it with just my hands. Should it make a difference if I undo it from the pump and return to hook it up to box first? I've never had such a pro lem. Maybe it's just cause I'm old lol.

So here is what we found out. When replacing the line start at gearbox first. No need for a crowsfoot and you can do it from the top. Next do the power steering side of the line. Finally place the line in the clamp. Believe me after spending hours doing the way as described I was ready to send it to the junk yard. The way we finally did it took less than 15 minutes.

Sounds like you need to replace thermostat assy and add new antifreeze and as far as your oil gauge, replace the "oil pressure sending unit". That should solve your problem

Power steering fluid leaking and turning is hard need to know how to change pump and hose need to know how to change it myself

First check the hoses located at the back of the pump. They are the most likely culprit.
If the fluid is leaking from the hose, purchase a replacement from a local dealer or repuitable auto parts supply.

If it is not the hose and the pump needs to be replaced, first I would suggest buying a Chilton manual either on-line or from an auto parts store and follow the detailed proceedure in replacing the pump.

This should require open end wrenches and take an hour or so.

The Starter silenoid is probably what the problem is. And the knocking could that be a loose starter? The two problems doesn't seem connected.
