Assuming you didn't drill the lock, it would have been best to access the interior of the vehicle (if not deadlocked, breaking in would be relatively simple) and current could be supplied to the vehicle via the cigar lighter or from under the hood by connecting to the battery circuit in order to use the in-car trunk release if fitted.
A way into the trunk can usually be found by removing the rear seat or hooking the keys using a fishing tool through the armrest aperture if there is one.

With the doors shut, insert the key into the drivers door lock. Lock and unlock the door 5 times. This should reset the system. If that doesn't work you should contact a qualified repair shop.

Posotive can be found in hood driver side next to fuse box. It is a small rectangle box. You can hook negative to any solid ground on the car.

Older style cars did not always have remote trunk release. Call dealer ask if remote trunk release equipped. Rear seat can be removed but, trunk access is not guarantied. Recommend getting a replacement key made with vin and title.
