these engines will be available fro your local wrecker or jap engine importer. There is very interesting information on the net in wikapedia as to the engines and their differences. Go mitsubshi engines models 4G94,4G3 and then re go for the 4G64. It has which cars had these engines fitted so that will give you some idea of what vehicles will have what you are looking for.

you should be able to pull the back seat up and see 2 litte hacks in the floor it should be the one on the passgern side undo it and lift up be carful of gas
Sounds like its time for a tune up. Start there and your mechanic will be able to note any other abnormal conditions. change fuel/air filter and any other maintenance items you haven't done so far.
