1999 Chevy Silverado - 3rd Brake Light Inop

I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado Z71. The third Brake Light on the cab is not working. My regular brake lights are working fine. I used a test light and there is power to the cargo lamps but not to the brake light even though it is the same assembly (separate wires, obviously.) I checked the fuses under the dash and under the hood and all are okay. Any ideas?

Can anyone tell me where the power to the High Mount Stop Light (3rd Brake Light) is fed from? Is it a stand alone pair of wires, or is it tapped off of the rear brake lights?

If you can trace the wires and look for a loose jack or broken wire

Testimonial: "Thank you. I'm sure it's narrowed down to a wiring issue, but I am not sure how it is wired."

My break lights dont work.fuzes and bulbs are ok ?

For starters it is spelled "Brake" light...LOL . Sounbds like you may have a brake light switch that has gone out. In yor owners manual does it show more than one fuse for the brake lights? Most vehicles with a thrid/highmount brake light split the brake light power to either the left and third brake light and the right brake light or vice versa, or posibble 3rd brake light on its own fuse. I would check if all of the brake light including the 3rd brake light dont work. If no lights work at all it leans toward the switch which controls all or them to activate hence the brake light switch. It should be mounted on your brake peal arm or to the main base. The pedal lever activate the switch when you depress the brake pedal.

How do you remove the third brake light cover on the cab of an 01 ranger

On either end of the 3rd brake light housing, there will be a screw. Just remove these screws and the housing will slide right out. Then you can just pop the bulb out
