Question about 2005 GMC Sierra

GMC Sierra front end noise.

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra there is a low growling noise coming from the front somewhere. It is very noticable when slowing down. The noise does not change if I put the vehicle in Neutral while moving . It also feels like the vehicle is bogging down. The rpm's are up a little at 55 mph and the transmission is runnung warmer than normal. Any ideas??

SOURCE: around 1500 rpms or 55 mph engine seems to bog down

It sounds like your low on fluid, or your transmission filter is dirty and the front pump is not getting enough oil supply. Worst is your front pump is going bad.
Check the fluid level and see if it's burnt. Good luck

Try changing the fuel filter. I think it's starving for gas and the transmission can't decide what to do.

SOURCE: Transmission noise (growl)

It is at least one of your wheel bearings. I had all four of mine replaced before 40000 miles I hope that it is under warrantee

Your front pump in the transmission could be going bad. Check the transmission fluid for level and condition. The fluid should be bright red and not burnt (dark in color like burgandy). Best thing to do is take it to a transmission shop and have them check your truck for DTC codes with a Tech 2 scanner and have them do a transmission line pressure test. The whining can also indicate low on transmission fluid and that's bad, you may have burnt some of the clutch packs already and shorten the life of your transmission. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.

SOURCE: replace neutral safety switch on a 1988 gmc sierra

Typically the Neutral Safety Switches are located with the gear selector, either in the column or the floor.

Hope this helps,

You might want to check the ball joint. None of them have grease zerks and can dry out. They will cause a noise when turning or hitting a bump, if really bad. Hope this helps.

is your clutch pedal spongy if it is a hydraulic clutch there will be a small resivoir on the fire wall next to the brake master cylinder,if so check the fluid level, the noise your describing sounds like drive shaft u-joints,or cv axle drive shafts in front if its 4 wheel drive, block the wheels and put the truck in neutral,to release any tension on the drive shaft,go underneath, grab the driveshaft a foot behind the transmission, and push up an pull down on it while observing the u-joint in front of it if there is any looseness or play it is damaged, any movement up and down or left and right requires replacement,do the same to the other end at the rear axle, the rear axle u-joint is the most common failure, but check them both,

I had the same problem. It was my air conditioning compressor. I bought a A/C delete kit which is just a pulley to take the place of your air conditioner. Hope this helps
